ScoutNET Capability

Do you use the BSA’s Internet Advancement (ScoutNET) website to record advancements? Well if so, we want to hear from you. We are excited to announce that we now have the ability to interface with ScoutNET.

This new feature is easy to use. Our site will prepare the file you need to upload to ScoutNET to eliminate the double entry process. This will save you a ton of time and improve the accuracy of the data recorded.

If you want to help us test this new feature, e-mail us at

  1. Holy Cow! This is awesome!!! Please count me in! I have a bunch of stuff that I need to add to the system and am ready to go right away to test this.

    1. Look for an e-mail from us soon Cory!!

  2. If I use eTrail (which I use extensively – I can track so many things easily), what would be the advantage of copying the data over to ScoutNet? It sounds interesting, At first blush, it seems that at the risk of moving some of your business over to ScoutNet, there must be some great advantage of having the data also with BSA. What is that?

    1. Mike,

The BSA Internet Advancement System (ScoutNET) is where all ranks, merit badges and official BSA awards are recorded for each Scout. When you go to your local Council office and submit a paper advancement report, someone then has to enter all of that information into the BSA system. To replace that manual process, the BSA is giving leaders the option to submit their advancement reports online using ScoutNET. This ensures that the data being recorded is accurate and it saves the Council time as they don’t have to have someone manually enter in all of the awards. Some Councils are even requiring that all ranks and merit badges be submitted to ScoutNET before you can purchase those awards.

We are eTrailToEagle give you the tools now to submit your advancement report using ScoutNET to help with this process.

If you have additional questions, please let us know. We are here to help.

      1. OK – now I understand better. Thanks.

  3. We have been asked as local units by our Council (Great Southwest) to log in and update our records prior to year end. Please send me info also. Thanks.

    1. Lance,

We just sent you an e-mail with instructions on how to test our ScoutNET feature. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

  4. Nathan,
    This sounds wonderful!
Is this capability under Reports/Advancement Reports/ BSA Advancement (Report Format = excel)?
Is there a similar upload capability for Troop registration?

    1. Mike,

We haven’t released this to everyone just yet. However, we just sent you an e-mail with instructions on how to access the feature.

  5. This is awesome! We’d love to be a part of this as well!

  6. I would like to try this as well. Thanks.

  7. Can I get the instructions? Very excited about this

    1. Here is a link to our ScoutNET instructions:

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. We would really appreciate your feedback!

  8. Our council ONLY does advancement now via ScoutNet. Therefore, being able to just upload a file from etrail to ScoutNet would be an awesome time saver. I am interested in helping you test it out if that is still an option.

  9. We have been using the Duty to God side but just began using the Scouting portion of your site. I am very excited and would love to be able to sync up the council data

I would be happy to help. We have a bunch of information entered in etrail, and almost nothing in Internet Advancement. I’m also helping bring a new YM President who has NO scouting experience up to speed.

  11. I would LOVE to try the ScoutNET add-on, as we are currently getting ready to migrate to a better tracking system. This would greatly increase the efficiency.

Does it also allow importing from Scout NET? That would also be a huge time save.

    1. We have new instructions on how to use the ScoutNET feature. Read the details here:

      Please send us your feedback!

In our ward and stake we use just ScoutNet. We have to because our council only recognizes official inputs on ScoutNet. Why or what good is it for us to use your Scout Tracking?

    1. ScoutNET only provides an option to record when a rank was earned or when a merit badge was earned. Our website gives you the ability to track their progress on ranks and merit badges. It’s nice to be able to see when they are up for a board of review or when they have enough service hours or when they have enough leadership experience. Our website works well with ScoutNET. You can submit all of your advancement data to ScoutNET from eTrailToEagle. This would help you comply with the requests of your Council, but also give you a tool to help track their individual progress. Also, we now have Android and iPhone (this week) apps available for download. This brings your advancement records to your smart phone for instant access.

We would be happy to answer any and all your questions. Just send us an e-mail to

  13. Very interested in helping to test the scout net capability. Please send me information on how to export this file.
